COMPOSITION FOR THE NAIL SHOES AND CAPABLE OF PROVIDING AN ODOR AND / OR A COLOR THEREOF, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME
PREPARATION OF SUCH A COMPOSITION
The present invention relates to a composition intended to protect, nourish and maintain the hooves of ungulates, in particular capable of imparting to them an odor and / or a color.
A second aspect of the present invention also relates to a process for the preparation of such a composition.
The hooves of animals, especially equines, require special care. Indeed, the hooves are made of insensitive horn, which protects the internal parts of the foot. This horn must be both hard and flexible to play both its protective role and its role as a shock absorber. Walking on natural soil ensures good horn growth, as well as suitable hardness. Indeed, the activity stimulates blood circulation, contributing to the good health of the horn.
However, the captive animals, in particular the horses, see this balance upset by the weight of the rider, the shoeing and the hard grounds, in particular tarmac, more aggressive for the hoof.
A problem affecting the horse's hoof consists of cracks in the hoof wall. This problem is known as seimes. The seimes are due to an external aggression or to a food deficiency. Coins can cause anthills, corresponding to detachment of the wall or the wall of the underlying tissue.
Another problem encountered is that concerning the fork and the sole of the hoof which are located on the underside of the hoof, and therefore facing the ground. The fork and sole are thus in direct contact with aggressive elements, such as urine and droppings disposed in the litters, stones ...
BE 2012/0833
2012/0833
These three types of problem are often painful for life, and may require surgery in the most extreme cases.
There are thus known compositions, also called in the state of the art greases on foot, in particular for equines, intended to feed and maintain the hooves of these animals.
FR 2,665,836 A1 describes a fat comprising various animal fats, Norwegian tar and liver oil.
One of the drawbacks of this fat is that the presence of tar prevents the horn from breathing properly.
The invention proposes to remedy this problem by means of a composition intended to protect, nourish and maintain the hoofs of ungulates, by promoting the regrowth of the horn, and in particular by filling and treating the cutlets and the anthills of the hoof. , without heavy treatment.
In addition, the practice of horse riding is a sport in evolution and whose number of participants is increasing. There is thus an increasingly frequent desire to be able to personalize and take care of your animal, for example via a riding horse personalized by its color and / or its shape.
In the context of equitherapy, a disabled person has difficulty in identifying with certainty the horse on which he will ride. It has thus been observed that when the disabled person is on foot before driving to the horse which he is going to ride, it is difficult to obtain a positive gait thereof due in particular to a lack of recognition of his animal.
Furthermore in collective riding sports, such as in particular in horse-ball, when the rider bends to pick up the ball, he sees only the legs of the horse which is located on the side opposite to the side on which he picks up the ball.
There are therefore difficulties in recognizing and perceiving the animal, especially the horse on the part of its rider.
BE 2012/0833
2012/0833
The present invention thus relates to a composition intended to protect, nourish and maintain the hooves of ungulates and in particular equines.
The present invention thus relates to a composition allowing a rider to easily recognize his horse, in particular by "customizing" it, and this by having a positive approach to taking care of the animal by applying the said composition to its hooves.
A subject of the present invention is thus a composition intended to protect, nourish and maintain the hooves of ungulates, in particular equines, typically comprising animal fat, preferably food tallow, at least one vegetable oil, oil paraffin, petroleum jelly, preferably petroleum jelly codex, and at least one active component capable of imparting an odor and / or a color to the hoof on which said composition is applied.
The composition according to the invention has the function of letting the hoof which is a living element breathe while allowing a gradual and natural elimination of the color and / or the scent applied to said hoof.
The compositions of the state of the art intended to protect, nourish and maintain the hooves of ungulates, in particular equines, are also designated by the term foot fat.
Advantageously, the Applicant has noticed that the composition according to the invention has two different rates of migration of the components which it comprises.
Indeed, the Applicant has observed that when the composition does not include paraffin oil, the active component capable of imparting an odor and / or a color disappears after a few minutes (less than about 10 minutes) making it impossible to use of said composition since the olfactory effect and / or the visual effect sought do not last long enough to provide an improvement in the practice of horse riding. The active component thus migrates very quickly into the hoof of the animal with the or
BE 2012/0833
2012/0833 the components) nourishing), in particular animal fat, and is then no longer perceptible by the rider.
The addition of paraffin oil in combination with petroleum jelly makes it possible to maintain the active component outside the hoof while the animal fat migrates inside the hoof. Furthermore, paraffin oil makes it possible to “soften” the composition according to the invention and therefore to facilitate its application, in particular using a brush. This effect is advantageously obtained without increasing, and therefore without accelerating, the power of penetration of animal fat into the hoof. This effect cannot be obtained if the paraffin oil is replaced by a vegetable or animal oil. The combination of paraffin oil with petroleum jelly allows the color and / or the scent to last at least 30 minutes, preferably at least 45 minutes, on the hoof, and more preferably at least 60 minutes.
Vaseline, preferably of the codex type, thus tends to remain on the surface of the animal's hoof under the effect of paraffin oil while animal fat migrates more quickly into the hoof and nourishes it, especially in combination with vegetable oil.
It should be noted that after a few hours, the smell and / or the color have faded, or even disappeared completely, and that the composition has practically completely migrated and penetrated into the hoof horn.
Furthermore, the vegetable oil has the function of adjusting the viscosity of the composition in combination with animal fat and petrolatum.
Advantageously, the composition is applied using a brush to the hoof of the animal, and is sufficiently "pasty" to remain on the hoof so that a relatively thick layer can be applied.
In a variant, said composition comprises at least 50% by weight, preferably at least 60% by weight of its total weight of animal fat.
BE 2012/0833
2012/0833
This amount is necessary to impart the appearance of “paste” or “fat” to said composition to facilitate its application and to satisfactorily nourish the hoof horn.
In a variant, said composition comprises at least 3% by weight, preferably at least 5% by weight of its total weight of vegetable oil.
Preferably, said composition comprises at most 15% by weight of its total weight, preferably at most 10% by weight of its total weight of said vegetable oil.
The Applicant has determined that this quantity is sufficient to adjust the viscosity of the composition.
In a variant, the vegetable oil is preferably a rapeseed oil or a sunflower oil.
In a variant, the composition comprises at least 5% by weight, preferably at least 12% by weight of its total weight of paraffin oil.
Preferably, said composition comprises at most 20% of its total weight of paraffin oil.
This proportion of paraffin oil makes it possible to delay the migration of the active component in the hoof horn, and in particular that the petroleum jelly remains on the surface of the equine hoof and therefore retains the active component capable of imparting an odor or a color on the hoof for at least 30 minutes.
Advantageously, the composition according to the invention is edible and is therefore not contraindicated for its ingestion by the animal.
In a variant, the active component comprises at least one dye, preferably liposoluble, and in particular food. The Applicant has observed that it was necessary for the active component capable of imparting a color to said composition to be liposoluble so that it does not decant in said composition and remains well distributed homogeneously therein.
The Applicant has observed that the use of a non-liposoluble dye (and therefore non-lipophilic) did not make it possible to obtain a composition in which the dye was uniformly distributed and this in a stable manner. Indeed, the
BE 2012/0833
2012/0833 dye partially decanted in the bottom of the container receiving said composition when it cooled making the composition unusable.
Alternatively, the active component comprises at least one flavoring substance, preferably food.
In a variant, the composition according to the invention comprises fish oil, such as cod liver oil, preferably at least 3% by weight of its total weight of said fish oil.
Preferably, said composition comprises at most 5% by weight of its total weight of fish oil.
Cod liver oil helps improve the treatment and care of hooves, in particular for preventing seimes.
In a variant, said composition comprises one or more essential oils, chosen from: lavender essential oil, thyme essential oil and laurel essential oil.
Said essential oils confer a sanitizing power to said composition and in particular avoid the rotting of the hoof of the ungulates.
A second aspect of the present invention also relates to a process for the preparation of a composition intended to protect, nourish and maintain the hooves of ungulates, in particular equines, in particular according to one of the variant embodiments described above.
Advantageously, the preparation process according to the invention comprises the following successive steps:
1) A first step during which at least one vegetable oil and paraffin oil are mixed so as to form a mixture A;
2) A second step of heating said mixture A to a temperature above 50 ° C and below 90 ° C;
3) A third step of adding animal fat, in particular food tallow, then petroleum jelly, preferably petroleum jelly codex, with stirring until dissolution of petroleum jelly and animal fat in said mixture A to form a mixture B;
BE 2012/0833
2012/0833
4) A fourth step of cooling the mixture B to a temperature below 60 ° C;
5) A fifth step of adding to said mixture B, with stirring, an active component capable of imparting an odor and / or a color to said mixture B, and optionally an oil of plant origin and / or an oil of 'animal origin to form said composition;
6) a conditioning step, in particular in a receptacle for conditioning said composition.
Preferably, during the conditioning step, said composition is poured into the conditioning receptacle still in the uncooled state, just after the fifth step. Said composition cools and thus solidifies in the receptacle in order to adopt the consistency of a "paste" at room temperature, that is to say between 10 ° C and 25 ° C.
This composition is then colored by said active agent and / or gives off a particular scent, preferably associated with its color. For example, a composition of red color has a smell of strawberry, a composition of yellow color has a smell of lemon or a green composition has a smell of mint.
Said active agent corresponds to the active agent described above. Preferably, said active agent comprises at least one fat-soluble dye, in particular a food color. Said active agent can also comprise at least one flavoring substance, preferably food.
When the composition according to the invention comprises at least one essential oil (such as the essential oils mentioned above) and / or an oil of animal origin (such as liver oil, in particular liver oil from cod), said oil is added during the fifth step, at the same time as said active agent.
The present invention will be better understood on reading an exemplary embodiment cited without implied limitation in which for ten liters of composition according to the invention, it comprises:
BE 2012/0833
2012/0833
- 5.5 kg of animal fat, especially food tallow and in particular beef fat;
- 0.5 kg of vegetable oil, especially rapeseed vegetable oil;
- 0.250 kg of fish oil, in particular vitamin and winterized cod liver oil;
- 1 kg of paraffin oil;
- 1,250 kg of petroleum jelly, in particular Codex P23 petroleum jelly;
- 10 g of lavender essential oil;
- 10 g essential oil of thyme and bay leaf;
- between 20g to 200g of at least one fat-soluble food coloring according to the desired color.
Depending on the desired coloration, the composition may comprise one or more food colors.
The composition can also comprise between 50 ml to 200 ml, preferably between 80 ml to 120 ml of at least one food scent, preferably associated with the color of the composition.
By winterized oil is meant an oil which has been cold filtered.
When a user applies said composition to the shoe of the animal, the latter takes on the color of said composition, and this in a lasting manner, that is to say for at least 30 minutes, preferably at least 45 minutes.
It should be noted that the hoof color of a given animal differs from that of another animal. Indeed, the horn of a hoof can be more or less dark. The color rendering therefore differs from one animal to another. The composition according to the invention has the advantage that the color and / or the scent are clearly perceptible by the eye and / or the nose of the user, in particular of the rider as regards riding. The user can thus easily locate and identify the animal according to the color and / or the scent of his hooves while taking care of the latter since said composition also has the functions of nourishing, maintaining and protecting the hooves.
